How Can Chiropractic Help Reduce Stress?

Here at Ability Chiropractic we often refer to the old cliche of “the duck” when we talk about all the underlying things going on in our bodies and nervous system. A lot of times, no matter how serene a duck may look floating on the surface of the water, if you look underneath, you’ll see the duck is kicking as fast as it can to keep up or keep afloat.

Many of us adopt this in our everyday lives, especially right now in the frantic times of the holidays and the winter months. Even when we try to keep that calm, smooth demeanor, we are truly in a state of chronic stress. When we are under that much stress, our bodies and nervous system are a lot more messy than we may realize.

Symptoms of this chronic stress can manifest in our patients in a number of ways. Everything from increased anxiety, to headaches, muscle pain and more can develop when we do not manage our stress properly. Not only this, but increased cortisol levels can increase weight gain, our short term memory and ability to concentrate will suffer, and so much more.

As our body reacts to different stressors that we come across, that constant wear and tear begins to get pretty draining on our nervous system. Chiropractic care can help to give our spine and nervous system a helpful reset to make sure it is able to properly react to stressors and keep our mind and body in an overall healthy state. Patients will be able to enter that “rest and digest” state of being.

Our Columbus chiropractors and Charlotte chiropractors want to help you manage your stress in a healthy, proactive way through chiropractic care. What better way to kick off the new year than by making an appointment with us at one of our five Columbus offices? We look forward to welcoming you!
