What Do Chiropractors Treat?

What Do Chiropractors Treat?

Many people have heard about chiropractic care, but might not fully understand what exactly chiropractic is intended to treat. Our Columbus chiropractors want you to know exactly what chiropractic care does for your body!

The short answer is…chiropractors actually do not treat anything. What we mean by this is that we don’t “treat” things like anxiety, low back pain, headaches, etc. If we were simply treating symptoms such as these, we would be practicing medicine, which chiropractic is separate from.

What symptoms really are are simply a way for our body to communicate with us and to let us know that a limit has been reached and a change needs to be made. Our patients come to Ability Chiropractic because they need something different. They have gone to specialists, they have tried the different pills and supplements and received no answers.

So, chiropractors take a different approach. Instead of trying to simply make the symptom itself disappear, we address the underlying cause of the headache, the sciatica or whatever it may be. We do this by addressing the neurological and structural stressors on the body through adjustments, which reduces those specific symptoms.

Once a patient receives their chiropractic adjustment, their body can begin that natural healing process. We like to refer to this as, “the power that makes the body, heals the body.”

Our staff is excited about the fact that we can help so many people eliminate their pain and live a healthier life, more fulfilling life through chiropractic. If you’re ready to make that positive change, we would love to welcome you!
