Chiropractical Kurt

“Yes. Definitely.” The first no-hesitation, definitive, absolute answer I was given. The answer was yes; local fireman Kurt G. definitely had preconceived notions about chiropractic. “They weren’t real doctors.” “It wasn’t real.” “It’s wasn’t going to help me.” Kurt has been a patient at Ability Chiropractic for four years, a fireman for 15 years, a father for 13 years, and an athlete for his entire life. His chosen career, paired with an assortment of strenuous hobbies has put more wear and tear on his body in 46 years than an average man sees in 80. His hesitation about chiropractic didn’t stem from anything in particular; in fact, Kurt’s wife had been seeing a chiropractor for years before he could finally be persuaded to stop in. “I’d never been till probably I was 40… I thought I had no reason to go,” he shrugged. Kurt tried to minimize the seriousness of…

Is There An Ultimate Sleeping Position?

Do I Have A Posture Problem?

I remember as a kid living up in Mansfield having my parents tell me, “stop slouching, stand up straight!” In school it was “sit up in your seats.” Same thing in band rehearsal learning to play the trumpet as a kid, “sit up, tighten your core!” I hope that parents here in Worthington and Lewis Center do the same, because what I had no clue about was how important posture is to your health! Most people don’t consider the fact that your posture is simply an outward reflection of what is happening in your spine, and therefore your spinal cord and nervous system! Do I Have A Posture Problem? How to Evaluate Posture The best way to look at your posture is to have a local chiropractor do it, we are experts at it – but it’s also important to know how to do it for your family members or…

How Chiropractic Heals

A quote I saw on Facebook today: “Medicine is interested in the problem with the person. Chiropractic is interested in the person with the problem. Medicine focuses on the circulatory system. Chiropractic focuses on the nervous system. Medicine kills germs. Chiropractic strengthens immunity. Medicine attempts to suppress symptoms. Chiropractic attempts to enhance adaptability. Medicine makes the doctor or drugs the hero. Chiropractic makes the individual’s capacity to self heal the hero. Be proud of the differences. It’s why patients seek out and appreciate chiropractic care.” -Bill Esteb   Happy Hump Day! Dr. Chris

5 Rules For Happiness – Are You The 1%?

The majority of people always think about physical stress, because that’s what we typically associate with pain, or problems, or our physical exhaustion after a long day at work. If we’re in the top 15%-10%, we think additionally about the chemical stresses we endure. We think about the fuel that we put in our body. We think about   creating purity within our system – sufficiency of nutrients within our cells. We think about eliminating toxicity from our households, our foods, and medications. If we’re in the top 5%, we think about emotional stress. We consider the fact that our thoughts and our emotional surroundings affect our physiology. Stress from work, or home life, or relationships, or kids – some of the stress we feel, some of it subconscious and never making it to the top of our mind…what we don’t always feel is the high blood pressure, the high blood…

Columbus Chiropractor Helps Asthma

Next time you are suffering with Asthma, try visiting a Chiropractor! Most people in Columbus,  Worthington and Lewis Center don’t know that in the majority of asthma cases, there’s absolutely nothing structurally wrong your lungs, you are simply not functioning properly! Our patients in Columbus Ohio always ask, well if there’s nothing wrong with my lungs…why do I have asthma?? The actual problem that many people experience is that the contracting reflex of your lungs is caused by your brain sending a message down your spinal cord to your lungs. That means that if there’s a disruption with the communication in your nervous system, it could create asthma symptoms. In the case of asthma, the neck and upper back area provide the nerve connection to your lungs. Chiropractors are trained to find these areas of nerve irritation, interference, or pinching. The technical term for this is called Subluxation. Chiropractors discovered that when…

Change Your Life – Do Something Different!

I read a quote once that said “90% of life is what happens outside of your comfort zone.” When you think about how much of life is already scripted for us – get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, etc. the quote makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? So much of what we see in our office is the result of people doing the same things over and over, day after day. Spinal problems like arthritis or disc herniations, for example are the result of the physical stress of someone doing the same motions over and over and reinforcing the same posture abnormalities until the structures simply can’t take it any longer. Chemical stress is no different. We tend to eat the same foods repetitively, rarely venturing outside of our comfort zone. Emotionally, maybe we always tend toward anger or crying when we become upset –…
